Dr. Gunver Sophia was born 1964 in Tübingen, studied medicine in Witten-Herdecke and Göttingen, Germany and received methodological training at Harvard, USA. She is co-founder of and senior research scientist at the Institute for Applied Epistemology and Medical Methodology in Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Kienle is member of the Commission C for Anthroposophic Medicinal Products at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, in Bonn, Germany.

Gunver Kienle's research interests include placebo effects, clinical research methodology, clinical judgement, single-case study designs, Cognition-based Medicine, and systematic reviews on pre-clinical and clinical studies on mistletoe therapy. She has conducted a health technology assessment report on Anthroposophic Medicine and is editor of the certified Website "Scientific Information Pages on Mistletoe Therapy" of the Physicians Association for Anthroposophic Medicine in Germany (GAÄD). Dr. Kienle has published four books and ca. 100 papers, articles, book chapters and monographs.
