Prof. Hahn is currently Founding Adviser for a Center of Integrative Medicine and Health. He was Founding Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Oldenburg (2011-2013) and served as Dean of the Faculty of Health, University of Witten/Herdecke 2009-2011. 1988-2009 he was Professor of Medicine and Chairman, Department of Medicine I, University Hospital Erlangen, Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. 1987-88 he was Rorer Professor of Medicine and Director, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, Jefferson Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, USA.

Prof. Hahn earned a Master of Medical Education in 2002 (MME, Bern) and graduated in Medicine 1969 at University of Hamburg, Germany. As a longstanding President of the German Association of Medical Education (2003-2011) and Chief Editor of the GMS Journal of Medical Education (2003-2012) Prof. Hahn initiated the German National Competence-Based Catalogue of Learning Objectives in Medicine. His research interest is in fibrogenesis in liver cirrhosis, gastrointestinal endoscopy and ultrasound, carcinogenesis, clinical oncology, hospital management, integrative medicine and medical education. 745 published papers since 1974 (SCI-listed).
