Ton Nicolai, MD

  • Appointed Companion of the Order of Orange-Nassau by the Queen of the Netherlands and received several other awards

Ton Nicolai started his professional career as a GP in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. When confronted with failure of conventional medicine to cure patients, he went searching for other therapeutic options. He studied several CAM modalities including acupuncture, homeopathy, manual therapy, naturopathy and psychic healing. He took courses in personal development, communication, awareness and mind-body techniques. Finally he chose homeopathy, quit his work as a GP and started a homeopathic consultancy practice in 1983.

From 1990 on he served as an executive of the Dutch Homeopathic Medical Association VHAN and the International Homeopathic Medical League LMHI. He was one of the founders of the European Committee for Homeopathy ECH, worked as its political coordinator, Secretary and finally President (2000-2012).

Since a few years he is the coordinator and spokesman of EUROCAM, which unites European umbrella organisations of patients, physicians and practitioners in the CAM sector and seeks to influence the decision making of the European institutions to support and provide the means for the integration of CAM into European healthcare systems.

For his international work he was appointed Companion of the Order of Orange-Nassau by the Queen of the Netherlands and received several other awards.
