Prof. Dr. Mark Dominik Alscher: Currently executive medical director of the clinics of the Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus in Stuttgart and chief physician of the Department for General Internal Medicine and Nephrology with emergency center.

Teaching assignment at the Medical Faculty of the University of Tübingen. Author of more than 180 publications and book chapters with a focus on nephrological diseases incl. renal replacement (peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, transplantation), systemic and rheumatic diseases, and emergency care.

His research focuses on peritoneal dialysis, acute renal failure, and medical expert systems. Overall more than 350 external lectures. Further activities concerning framework conditions of clinical research, new health care professions, and software for knowledge institutions. Currently vice president of the German Society of Nephrology. Since 2011 chair of the telematics team of the ministry of science and the ministry of social affairs of Baden-Württemberg (together with Prof. Bamberg).

Professional career started with studying medicine in Freiburg from 1984 to 1990, doctoral thesis in 1990. Training and board certification in internal medicine with rotations in gastroenterology, cardiology, hematology, nephrology from 1990 to 1996. Further training in nephrology from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2008 senior physician (from 2003 on chief senior physician). In 2003 habilitation at the University of Tübingen. Stays abroad at the Beth Israel Deaconess of the Harvard Medical School in 1998 and in 2001 at the University Hospital Denver, USA. Since 2008 chief physician. Since 2008 adjunct professor at the University of Tübingen. Since 2009 medical director of the clinics of the Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus.
