Trained as homeopathic and then anthroposophic physician.  GP Specialist in Pain Management. 30 years a family doctor, his main interest has been the community rehabilitation of patients suffering complex long term health problems, encouraging greater self-management and independence from health services. UK Doctor of the Year 1993.

Co-founder of two small charitable organisations Blackthorn Trust in Maidstone, Kent and Kairos Reehabilitation in Greenwich, London which provide rehabilitation with therapeutic, social and training activities for NHS patients.
